This drug acts on the vaso-motor centres causing dilatation of the capillaries of skin. The resulting conditions of hyperaemia and swelling are treated by Antipyrinum. In large doses, this can rectify symptoms like profuse perspiration, dizziness, cyanosis and somnolence. It is a very useful remedy in Acute erythema multiforme.
Patients experiencing hallucinations of sight and hearing can be managed well with Antipyrinum. Moreover, conditions characterised by tinnitus and red conjunctiva with lachrymation suggest the use of this remedy. It is of utmost importance in clinical presentation of Cheyne- Stokes respiration.
Urticaria with intense pruritis, angio-neurotic oedema, eczema and pemphigus can also be treated with this drug.
