Lax-n-Liv Drops
Constipation means different things to different people. For many people, it simply means infrequent stools. For others, however, constipation means hard stools, difficulty passing stools (straining) or a sense of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement.
Composition
Carduus marianus 2x, Chelidonium majus 2x, Cholestrinum 8x, Colocynthis 5x, Lycopodium clavatum 4x, Nux vomica 4x.
Indications
Helps relieve symptoms of impaired bile secretion; lack of appetite, bitter taste in mouth, flatulence, constipation and pain abdomen associated with Liver and gall bladder disorders like Gall stones and Hepatitis.
Dosage
10-15 drops in some water, 3 times a day before meals for 1-2 weeks. If not much improvement then take 10-15 drops, 4-6 times a day and reduce the dose when improving. Even after complete disappearance of the complaints take 10-15 drops 1-3 times a day for more time, watching diet rigorously or as prescribed by the physician.

Action of Ingredients
- Carduus marianus- The action of this drug is centered in the Liver, and portal system, causing soreness, pain, Jaundice. Pain in region of liver. Left lobe very sensitive. Fullness and soreness, with moist skin. Constipation; stools hard, difficult, knotty; alternates with Diarrhoea. Swelling of gall bladder with painful tenderness. Hyperaemia of Liver with Jaundice. Cirrhosis with dropsy.
- Chelidonium maj.- A prominent liver remedy, covering many of the direct reflex symptoms of diseased conditions of that organ. Bilious complication during gestation. Eating relieves temporarily, especially when accompanied with hepatic symptoms. Gallstones.
- Cholestrinum- Enlargement of the liver, Jaundice and formation of Gall stones and gall stone colic.
- Lycopodium clav.- Sour eructations. Great weakness of digestion. Bulimia, with much bloating. After eating, pressure in stomach, with bitter taste in mouth. Eating ever so little creates fullness. Immediately after a light meal, abdomen is bloated, full.
- Nux vomica- Flatulence and pyrosis. Sour, bitter eructations. Epigastrium bloated, with pressures of a stone, several hours after eating. Dyspepsia from drinking strong coffee. Difficult belching of gas. Flatulent distension with spasmodic colic. Colic from uncovering. Liver engorged with stitches and soreness. Colic with upward pressure, causing short breath and desire for stool.
- Colocynthis- Very bitter taste. Agonizing cutting pain in abdomen causing patient to bend over double and pressing on the abdomen. Intestines feel as if bruised. Colic with cramps in calves. Cutting in abdomen especially after anger. Pain in small spot below navel. Dysenteric stool renewed each time by the least food or drink. Jelly-like stools. Musty odor. Distention.
